We’re pleased to share the launch of SUSTAFUELS, a European cluster uniting ten Horizon Europe projects. The cluster is pioneering the development of advanced, bio-based and algae-derived sustainable fuels for aviation, maritime and road transport.
The cluster — including SusAlgaeFuel alongside ALFAFUELS, ALGAESOL, CAPTUS, COCPIT, FUELGAE, ICARUS, NIAGARA, SUNFUSION and SUSTEPS — brings together leading innovation efforts to accelerate the transition towards a climate-neutral and circular transport system.
Through joint technical collaboration, life-cycle and techno-economic assessments, and coordinated outreach, SUSTAFUELS will strengthen Europe’s ability to scale up next-generation fuel technologies, improve resource efficiency, and support energy resilience.
This initiative embodies the European Green Deal’s vision of a carbon-neutral continent by 2050 and builds on international collaboration across Europe and beyond.
